TOM BIHN, a B-Corp Certified travel bag retailer and 1% for the Planet business member is giving back to the planet by going above and beyond their 1% commitment. The company uses responsibly-sourced materials, offsets the footprint of their shipping and production with Bonneville Environmental Foundation, donates fabric scraps to be repurposed, and supports two environmental nonprofits. TOM BIHN is committed to education, and strives to continue raising the bar for themselves and inspiring other businesses to do the same.
“We’re bag experts, not social or environmental experts, but we are doing our best to educate ourselves. Joining 1% for the Planet was a pivotal step in that process, and learning about and connecting with various environmental nonprofits and efforts that we’ve long admired has been meaningful for us. Our hope is that we can share modest examples of what a small business like ours can do and continue to learn more from other businesses, nonprofits, and our customers.”
Darcy Gray, TOM BIHN CEO
The company partners with Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, a nonprofit providing education and initiatives so that everyone enjoying the outdoors can do so responsibly, and WildEarth Guardians, a nonprofit working across the American West to protect and restore natural areas. The initiative taken by TOM BIHN is a reminder to consider people and the planet in all that we do.
