Futaleufú Adventures brings people to the Futaleufú river to whitewater raft, camp, trek, and appreciate the striking beauty of the area. The company’s founder, Robert Currie, has always been passionate about conservation. After completing his first commercial run on the Futaleufú river, he knew that the river was a place he wanted to protect. Since then he has become a well-known river advocate, fighting for watershed protection and sustainable development in the area. To protect the river from hydropower development, Robert worked with the locals to set up a sustainable tourism venture, Futaleufú Adventures.
Since becoming a 1% for the Planet business member three years ago, Futaleufú Adventures has been partnering with Futaleufú Riverkeeper, a nonprofit dedicated to the protection of the river and the communities that call the area home. This partnership has brought awareness to the river and the importance of preserving it, as well as kept consideration for local communities at the core of the mission.
