Field Guides Inspiring Conservation

49SouthPhoto creates field guides that serve as companions for travelers to explore remote and natural landscapes in the Patagonia region and Antarctica. The field guides feature photos and information on native wildlife and plants, giving travelers a chance to take a closer look at the wildlife around them. By providing education on nature and wildlife, 49SouthPhoto promotes a deeper understanding of the planet, and a call to action to take action in protecting the Earth’s many species. But they don’t stop there.

Since 2011, all of the field guides are printed on paper coming from forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC label ensures that forest products used are from forests that are being responsibly managed, and that forests are in good health and will be thriving for the long-term. 49SouthPhoto is also committed to cutting out single-use plastics. To do this, they do not use any plastic packaging for their field guides, and hope to inspire others to reduce plastic use as well. By taking environmental action and advocating for change, 48SouthPhoto paves the way for future generations to do the same.
