As a 1% for the Planet business member, CR Surf Travel Company supports the Costa Rican based non-profit CREMA . The nonprofit focuses on protecting sharks and sea turtles and providing community education. To support CREMA, CR Surf organizes monthly beach cleanups with kids in Dominicalito, taking them to the beach and providing bags and gloves. Local businesses pitch in to offer food and drinks during the clean up.
On one part of a previously dangerous beach, local fishermen helped take down illegally built shacks and 50 trees were donated by Community Carbon to be planted. This area will soon be turned into a playground for the kids. This #BeOnePercentBetter story shows the power of community action, and how important it is to engage the next generation of eco-leaders.
